Our fourth and final Wah giveaway is just impossibly cool. The Buddy Guy signature Cry Baby looks amazing, styled after the blues legend’s infamous polka dot Strat, and sounds amazing, well, because it’s designed by a man who’s playing has influenced HENDRIX of all people…
Guy’s expressive playing quickly establish the wah-wah as part of the blues and rock vocabulary and pushed guys like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck to expore the added expression the effect could bring to their tone. There’s hardly an original ‘guitar hero’ out there that doesn’t cite Buddy Guy as an influence in some way.
To honor his contributions Dunlop created the Cry Baby Buddy Guy Signature Wah, featuring the Fasel Inductor for a sweet and singing top end, and two distinct user selectable wah voices—choose “DEEP” for a big and throaty growl, or “BG” for Buddy’s own warm and bell-like wah tone. Convenient side-mounted LEDs indicate which mode you are in, while a separate LED indicates effect on/off.
Oh, and did we mention there’s an additional signed base plate to go with the pedal? Yes, autographed by the man himself, a true originato and legend, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, BUDDY GUY. Phew.
